5. ELL interests and motivation

In Howard(2012) research it was found that students had specific book preferences, and allowing ESL students to choose their own books allowed for autonomy, engagement, and increased motivation.

  •  If allowing ESL students to choose their own books and reading material increases motivation and engagement, then it raises the question:
If ESL students are to choose their own topics for narrative or journal dialogue does this increase motivation in writing and SLA?
